Bhadrak, June 2: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday inaugurated and laid foundations for 13 development projects in Bhadrak, totaling ₹275 crore, and announced medical college and university for the district.
Reaffirming the State Government’s commitment to transforming Bhadrak into a progressive and modern district, CM Majhi announced that a long-standing demand for a Government medical college in Bhadrak would soon be fulfilled. He also revealed plans to establish a Government University, further strengthening higher education in the region.
Emphasizing the district’s industrial potential, Majhi highlighted upcoming key projects: a technical textile complex to be developed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and an HMLS polyester manufacturing unit to be set up by MCPI Private Limited.
In addition to economic and educational advancements, the Chief Minister announced plans to beautify the birthplaces of local martyrs, underscoring the government’s commitment to preserving Bhadrak’s historical and cultural heritage.
Taking aim at previous administrations, Majhi asserted that development work in Odisha had accelerated since the BJP came to power. “We haven’t wasted a single minute in turning our promises into reality,” he said.
As evidence of swift governance, the Chief Minister cited key actions taken within just 24 minutes of assuming office: the launch of the Subhadra Yojana, an additional ₹800 per quintal input support for paddy farmers, the opening of four gates of the Shree Jagannath Temple to devotees, and the establishment of a ₹500-crore corpus fund for the temple's upkeep.
Looking ahead, Majhi announced that the State Government will present its first-year report card on June 12, marking one year of BJP’s governance in Odisha.
On the industrial front, he reported that projects worth over ₹80 crore had been initiated within the first 120 days of the new administration, and on May 22, the government approved 10 new projects valued at ₹1.65 lakh crore.
Reiterating his vision of building a ‘Samrudha Odisha’ (Prosperous Odisha) by 2036, CM Majhi said the state is on a steady path toward achieving that goal.
The event was attended by Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Bhadrak MP Abhimanyu Sethi, MLAs Sitanshu Sekhar Mohapatra, Ashok Das, Padmalochan Panda, former minister Manmohan Samal, and the District Collector, among other dignitaries.
