Koraput, Aug 10: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate a newly constructed 650-bed block at the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput on Sunday, marking a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in southern Odisha. Officials confirmed that all arrangements for the event have been finalised.

The new facility is set to significantly enhance medical services, benefiting not only residents of Koraput district but also patients from nearby districts and the neighbouring state of Chhattisgarh. With the expansion, the hospital will be better equipped to provide advanced medical care locally, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment.

Local residents expressed hope that the new block will lead to the recruitment of more doctors, helping to fill long-standing vacancies and improve service delivery in the region.

Following the inauguration, CM Majhi will address a public gathering at the Koraput Government College ground, where he is expected to outline the Odisha government’s continued commitment to strengthening healthcare services in remote and underserved areas.
