Bhubaneswar, May 7: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Wednesday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of two persons who were killed in a massive fire at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Bhadrak district.

CM Majhi expressed deep grief over the demise of the two persons and announced that the state government will provide Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

It is worth mentioning that the incident took place at Haladiha Bypass on Chandbali Road under the Bhadrak Rural police limits on Tuesday.

Reports stated that a loud explosion happened while fireworks were being made at the unit, destroying the building completely. The fire quickly spread after the blast, seriously injuring seven people.

All the injured persons were initially taken to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack when their health condition deteriorated.

Unfortunately, SK Musharraf (12) and Rato Bibi (40) of Haladiha Bypass under Puruna Bazar Police limits succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
