Bhubaneswar, November 20: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi concluded a four-day visit to Singapore by addressing over 400 members of the Odia diaspora in an interactive session aimed at fostering global connections and investment opportunities for the state.
Majhi extended invitations to the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar from January 8–10, 2025, and the Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 on January 28–29, 2025. The diaspora pledged their support to promoting Odisha internationally, aligning with the state’s vision of global integration.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in high-level meetings and roadshows to attract investments across critical sectors. Discussions with global leaders focused on sustainable growth and industrial diversification, including:
Sustainable Water Solutions: Meeting with Marcus Lim, CEO of Ecosoftt, explored integrating innovative water management into Odisha’s urban ecosystems.
Port-Based Infrastructure: Talks with AP Moller Maersk Group’s Rene Pill Pedersen highlighted opportunities in ship recycling, container manufacturing, and port development.
Semiconductors: A visit to PEP Innovation Private Ltd delved into strengthening Odisha’s electronics and semiconductor capabilities.
The delegation also visited Singapore's Suntec City Convention & Exhibition Center, gaining insights into positioning Odisha as a premier MICE destination in India.
Further engagements included meetings with major corporations like JERA, IHI Corporation, Masan High Tech Materials Corporation, and Ace Gases to discuss green hydrogen, critical minerals, cold chain infrastructure, and industrial gas sectors.
Reflecting on the visit, CM Majhi stated, “This visit has opened avenues for collaboration and showcased Odisha’s potential as a global investment destination. We are committed to creating opportunities that align with our vision for sustainable growth.”
Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain emphasized Odisha’s focus on skill development and infrastructure, saying, “Our efforts aim to leverage global expertise to drive innovation and economic progress.”
