Bhubaneswar, April 4: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today expressed deep grief over the killing of five jawans in the encounter between the security forces and Naxalites near Tarrem in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh.
“Strongly condemn the cowardly attack by left-wing extremists on our jawans in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. My deepest condolences to the families of the jawans who embraced martyrdom while fighting for the country. Wish speedy recovery to the injured,” Naveen tweeted.
In a statement to the media, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister said the villagers were disenchanted with the Maoists due to the continuous disruption in the development work in the areas. The villagers are now joining the mainstream of development. Health, education and other facilities are becoming accessible to the remote villages and people are being alienated from the Maoist-ideology. To counter this, the Maoists are trying to make their presence known by carrying out such attacks.
