Bhubaneswar, May 10: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a master plan of Rs 1500 crore for the development of Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR), previously known as College of Engineering and Technology (CET) in Bhubaneswar.
The state government would spend the amount in three phases in the next three years for the development of the only institution in Odisha that has received NAAC ‘A’ Grade accreditation and increase the student intake capacity to 10,000 students in the next five years against the current strength of 4,600 students.
The state government has the vision to develop the institution and bring it at par with reputed technical institutions such as IIM, IIT, and NIT through the development of infrastructure and human resources. For which Rs 1,000 crore is to be invested in the first year alone.
Today, Naveen reviewed the infrastructure, management, and teaching of OUTR. With the emphasis on high-quality teaching, new courses will be opened for new age technology and more Centers of Excellence will be established to promote human resource development and inter-departmental research programmes.
Recently, 5T secretary V. K. Pandian visited OUTR (CET) and discussed the development of the institution with faculty and students.
