Odisha CM approves creation of 2,500 Home Guard posts

Bhubaneswar, April 15: In a major step towards strengthening the state's law enforcement capabilities, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday approved the creation of 2,500 new Home Guard posts.
According to an official press release, Odisha currently has 17,675 Home Guards. With the addition of these new positions, the total strength will rise to 20,175.
This development is part of the Chief Minister’s broader commitment to enhance the police force in the state. Majhi had earlier announced plans to significantly expand manpower across various wings of the police department.
He also revealed that approximately 12,000 additional posts will soon be created in different branches of the state police, further reinforcing Odisha’s internal security framework.
