Bhubaneswar, July 7: Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi on Monday approved the proposal for the restructuring of various positions in the Odisha Fisheries Service and Odisha Horticulture Service cadres.
The state government has set a goal to achieve substantial growth in the fisheries and horticulture sectors. In line with this vision, CM Majhi has increased the number of officers in both of these service cadres.
As per the decision, the number of community-level positions in the Fisheries Service cadre has been increased to 835, up from the previous 618. This move has led to the creation of 217 new positions.
Most of the positions in the Fisheries Service cadre will be at the grassroots level. The state government aims to make Odisha self-reliant in fish production and achieve an annual fish production of 33 lakh metric tons by 2036.
With this restructuring of the Fisheries Service cadre, more officers will be available at the district and state levels to support the growth of fisheries from the grassroots to the state level.
Similarly, the restructuring in the Horticulture Department has resulted in an increase of 67 positions. The number of positions in this cadre has risen from 403 to 470. This expansion is expected to lead to significant growth in the horticulture sector as well.
