Odisha CM announces memorial for Covid warriors who succumbed to the virus

Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced to set up a memorial in Bhubaneswar in memory of Covid warriors who succumbed to the deadly virus. Patnaik made the announcement while having a discussion with the family members of the Covid warriors through video conferencing. The CM said that 2020 was extreme difficult due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the immense courage shown by the Covid warriors to tackle the pandemic will be long remembered. “We are leading a normal life due to the supreme sacrifice made by the Covid warriors. The government will be always with the family of the Covid warriors who lost their lives in line of duty. All possible held will be extended to the bereaved families. A memorial will be erected in Bhubaneswar and names of all Covid warriors who lost their lives will be inscribed on it,” said the CM.     Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, P K Mohapatra said that as many as 101 Covid warriors have died so far. Patra said that financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh as announced by the Chief Minister has been provided to the families of 96 deceased while the remaining five families will receive the assistance in next two days.
