Bhubaneswar, June 6: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a ₹15 crore infrastructure upgrade for the Sambalpur Football Academy, including three FIFA-standard football grounds and two modern futsal courts.
During a visit to the academy, Majhi praised its contribution to football development in Odisha and said the facility would be upgraded to international standards.
Established in 2007 as a branch of Samaleswari Sporting Club, the academy has produced hundreds of players who have represented Odisha in national-level tournaments.
The state government has also entrusted the academy with residential training for 30 Under-14 footballers selected annually through the C.M. Cup Football Tournament, while ensuring their education in nearby institutions.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the enhanced facilities would help nurture future football stars and strengthen Odisha’s sporting achievements.
