Bhubaneswar, April 9: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced 14-days ‘Mask Abhiyan’ starting from today to check spread of Covid-19. In a video message addressed to the people of Odisha, the CM said that we are experiencing the second wave of the pandemic. “No one is certain about the number of waves which will be faced by the people. In this scenario, a small change in lifestyle can prevent people from being infected. By use of mask we can defeat the virus without enforcing lockdown,” said Patnaik. The CM also said that the penalty related to masks will be doubled in Odisha. “Masks are the most efficient shield in battle against the pandemic. People who are yet to get vaccines must put on masks while people who have already been vaccinated also need to wear masks. I have directed the police and district administrations to penalise people not wearing masks properly,” he added. The CM further appealed people to wear masks properly. “We must cover our mouth and nose with mask. We must not venture out of home without mask. Use of masks is extremely helpful in combating the disease,” said Patnaik.
