Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: After a 2-year break due to Covid-19, Vishwakarma Puja is being observed in Odisha today amid much religious fervor. Several decorated pandals with huge idols of Lord Vishwakarma, who is regarded as the world’s architect, have been set up at various places across the state.
Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated when Lord Vishwakarma first came into being on Kanya Sankranti day-the day when the Sun migrates to the Kanya Rashi or Virgo. Special puja are being observed at store division, factories, offices, and other workplaces.
Small pandals are built at various workspaces. Elaborate rituals are carried out and prasad is given out to everyone. The workers in the factories and industries or at their workplaces also worship their tools on this day and the work remains closed for the day.
Vishwakarma has created the idol of Maa Durga, as the first of his creations, after he landed on the earth. Pujas is performed to ward off negativity and evil energies from the places of work.
