Odisha: CBI arrests brothers of managing director of Green Ray for Rs 2000 crore fraud

Bhubaneswar, July 15: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested two brothers of managing director of money deposit collection company Green ray International Limited (GRIL) Mir Sahiruddin. A CBI team conducted a raid in Jaleswar area and arrested Mir Sahimat alias Kalu and Mir Jamiruddin, both directors of the firm. Green Ray International is one of the 44 such companies being probed by the agency following a Supreme Court directive. Sahiruddin, who had been hiding in Nigeria, was arrested from Kolkata airport in February 2017 while he was allegedly trying to enter on a Bangladeshi passport. The ponzi firm allegedly mobilized funds to the tune of Rs 2000 crore from around 1.5 lakh investors in Odisha.  The ponzi firm with its head office in Balaosre district was active in cosmetics, garment, pharmaceutical and gold trading business. The ponzy firm had collected investments though around 40 branches including Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Ganjam and Khordha district.
