Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet, in a meeting held on Wednesday, approved 13 significant proposals aimed at improving governance and service delivery across the state. Among the major decisions was the bifurcation of the existing Mayurbhanj Police District.

To enhance policing and ensure more efficient public service delivery, the Cabinet approved the creation of a new police district headquartered at Rairangpur. This move is expected to streamline law enforcement operations and improve accessibility for residents in the region.

The newly formed Rairangpur Police District will include two Sub-Divisional Police Offices (SDPOs) at Rairangpur and Karanjia. It will comprise 14 Police Stations, 5 Police Outposts, and 2 Beat Houses.

The police stations under the new district are: Rairangpur, Rairangpur Town, Badampahada, Gorumahisiani, Bisoi, Tiring, Bahalda, Jamda, Karanjia, Thakurmunda, Mahuladiha, Raruan, Ghagarbeda, and Jashipur

This restructuring aims to bring better law enforcement infrastructure closer to the people and strengthen security across the region.
