Bhubaneswar, June 8:The Odisha Cabinet on Monday approved 10 proposals, including the construction of a ₹100.89 crore Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at the confluence of River Daya and Gangua Nallah in Bhubaneswar.
The project, to be executed by WATCO on an EPC basis with five years of operation and maintenance, aims to curb pollution caused by untreated sewage flowing through Gangua Nallah into River Daya.
The project includes a 60 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant based on SBR technology, a pumping station, DI pipeline network, SCADA automation system, and a dedicated power supply line. Following the bidding process, Noida-based East India Udyog Limited has been selected to execute the project.
Construction is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2026, and be completed by April 30, 2028. The initiative is expected to significantly improve water quality in River Daya and strengthen Bhubaneswar’s sanitation and drainage infrastructure.
