Odisha: Body of man with tied legs found floating in pond in Sundargarh

Sundargarh, July 2: Mystery shrouded over the death of a man after his body was found floating in a pond with both of his legs tied with a rope in Sadar police station area in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

The identity of the deceased man is yet to be ascertained.

As per reports, some local people in the area spotted a body floating in a pond near Baurimunda village under Sadar police limits today morning and alerted the police. The deceased is estimated to be around 55 years old. 

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and fished out the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem to a nearby hospital. 

A rope was found tied around both of his legs, leading to suspicions that he was murdered and then dumped in the pond.

Efforts are being made to identify the man. Nearby villages and other police stations have also been informed for any leads regarding the victim’s identity, said the police.
