Bhubaneswar, Oct 16: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday released its list of star campaigners, featuring a total of 40 prominent leaders, for the upcoming by-election to Nuapada Assembly constituency in Odisha.

The list of star campaigners features Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Other prominent names include Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The list also features BJP Odisha President Manmohan Samal, MP Baijayant Panda, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with other senior party leaders.

It is worth noting that the Nuapada by-election is scheduled for November 11, with counting scheduled to take place on November 14.

While the BJP has nominated Jay Dholakia, son of the late BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia, as its candidate for the by-poll, the Congress nominated Ghasiram Majhi. Naveen Patnaik-led BJD fielded former minister Snehangini Chhuria for the crucial bypoll.

The Nuapada bye-election, being the first electoral fight, since the BJP came to power in Odisha last year, the outcome holds crucial significance for the party and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and former Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik as well.
