Rayagada, Jan 14: In what could be the heftiest fine imposed on a traffic violator, a biker was slapped with a fine amounting to Rs 1,13,500 by the Rayagada Regional Transport Office (RTO) for various offences.
The violator, Prakash Banjara was fined by the enforcement team of the transport office in Rayagada when the department found the vehicle violated multiple traffic rules.
During a regular inspection, the traffic inspector stopped Praksh, a resident of Amarpur in Madhya Pradesh, and found that the motorist had been involved in many cases of rule violation.
Prakash, who found selling plastic drums on his motorcycle, was riding the two-wheeler without helmet and number plate.
The enforcement team issued the challan for not wearing a helmet and riding the bike without valid registration, insurance and driving license the spot and handed over to him.
During the inspection, traffic inspector Yudhisthir Lenka, assistant MVI RK Behera, traffic ASI CK Patra and other officials of transport department and local police were present.
Besides, the regional transport officer has urged people to follow traffic rules and ride motorcycle wearing helmet.
