Bhubaneswar: The fourteenth session (Winter Session) of the fifteenth Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA), which will begin at 10.30 am today, is likely to be very stormy.
This is so conceived from the fact that two opposition parties, Congress and BJP, and the ruling BJD have already listed up issues to counter each other in the House. While the BJD and the Congress have already held their respective Legislature Party meetings, BJP is likely to hold the same this morning.
The Congress will raise issues against both the BJD Government in the State and the BJP Government at the Centre. Issues of negligence to farmers and teachers, irregularities in distribution of ration cards and recruitment of Biju Yuva Bahini volunteers will be the main agenda of the Congress.
The ruling party will raise Central negligence issues like Polavaram, Mahanadi and unavailability of Special Category Status to Odisha.
The BJP will make delay in payment of insurance claims to famers, the State Government’s alleged failure in tackling Cyclone Titli, “Daru” selection irregularities and many other issues to counter the ruling BJD.
The session will have a total of 23 working days, including four Private Members’ Days’ and continue till December 15. Several important bills are likely to be tabled during the session.
As many as 30 platoon of police force along with two anti-terrorist units will be deployed around the Assembly premises and dharna site to maintain law and order situation. Four DCP rank officers will be in charge of the security arrangement.
