Odisha aims to generate 1.3 mw solar power from households this fiscal

Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: Odisha aims to generate around 1.3 megawatt solar power from around 4407 households in this fiscal, said Energy Minister, Dibya Shankar Mishra on Friday. Responding to a question in the Odisha Assembly, raised by Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim, Mishra said, the government is laying much emphasis on solar power production across the state. Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency(OREDA) and Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Ltd. (GEDCOL) gear up to promote solar power generation for households, institutions and government offices. At the same time, the agencies are set to utilize the ghost hydro power units in the state to switch them over to solar power plants. Especially, the government is almost set to produce around 13062.69 kilowatt units of solar power from 3000 houses and around 1407 government establishments. A budget worth Rs 148 crore has been dedicated for the purpose in order to create infrastructure for the renewable energy, Mishra added.
