Odisha achieves significant improvement in key nutrition indicators in NFHS-5

Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: Odisha witnessed significant improvement in the key nutrition indicators in the National Family Health Survey-5. The survey report was published today. Major highlights of Odisha’s achievements include reduction of stunting by 3.1% points, wasting by 2.3 % points and underweight by 4.7% points. There is a marked improvement in immunisation of children with 90.75 children fully vaccinated. Other nutrition indicators such as children exclusively early breastfed have increased to 72.9 percent from 65.6 percent and complementary feeding has improved from 54.9 percent to 67 percent in NFHS 5. There is also a significant improvement in the percentage of children of 6 months to 23 months having an adequate diet. This information was obtained from Women & Child Development Department, based upon the result of NFHS-5.
