Bhubaneswar, March 29: In the 132nd episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised two Odisha residents for their exceptional achievements.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed gratitude to PM Modi for acknowledging Sujata Bhuyan's success in fish farming. Bhuyan, a housewife from Sambalpur, has significantly impacted the local economy by adopting cage culture in the Hirakud Reservoir under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), generating 25-30 metric tonnes of fish annually and earning Rs 8-10 lakh.
PM Modi commended Bhuyan’s perseverance despite early challenges and her transformation from housewife to self-reliant entrepreneur, inspiring other women.
The Prime Minister also mentioned Om Prakash Rath from Kendrapara for his essay on advancing women-led development, which impressed him during the ‘My Bharat Budget Quest’ competition.
CM Majhi congratulated both individuals, recognizing their contributions to Odisha’s growth.
