Kendrapara, Apr 8: At least 15 people sustained injuries after a violent group clash broke out over the organization of an Ashta Prahari Naam Yajna in Marshaghai locality of Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Monday.

As per reports, a heated exchange of words ensued between two groups—one who was in support of the yajna and was organising it, while the other group was against it.

It later escalated and took a violent turn leading to a group clash in which 15 people were injured. Out of them, five sustained critical injuries and have been taken to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and SCB Medical College in Cuttack for treatment.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation. 

The cops have intensified patrolling in both Marshaghai Medical area and Tulasipur village. FIRs have been lodged from both sides, and the situation is currently under control.

Further investigation into the matter was underway.
