Rourkela, Oct 31: Thirteen people have been detained and are being questioned in connection with murder of five members of a nomad family in Sundargarh district of Odisha after group clash erupted on Tuesday night over extramarital affair. Three of the victims were women.
“We have detained 13 nomads of Maharashtra in connection with the brutal murder of five people in group clash that took place in Karamdihi village under Sadar police limits. They are being questioned,” said Sundargarh SP Pratyush Diwaker.
Five persons were killed and 10 others were critically injured in the group clash.
The assailants used pointed weapons in the attack while the victims and the injured persons were in their sleep, said police.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the bone-chilling murder case was the fall out of an illicit relationship of a victim with the sister of his wife, said police.
