Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of Odia photojournalist Achyutananda Sahu reached his village Ghushuramunda under Loisingha police station in Bolangir district early this morning.
With tearful eyes, hundreds of villagers gathered at Ghushuramunda to have the last glimpse of Sahu, who along with two police officials were killed by Maoists in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday morning.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and many other leaders of the State have expressed deep grief over death of Sahu in the Maoist attack.
Sahu, who was working as video journalist with Doordarshan, New Delhi, had visited the area to collect information on people’s participation in elections in the Maoist-infested areas ahead of Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh.
The mortal remains of Sahu is likely to be consigned to flames today.
