Cuttack, Jan 27: As many as 32 matches were played on the third day of Odisha Open Super 100, the first ever International badminton tournament of Badminton World Federation at Odisha. Shubhankar Dey (India), seeded third in men’s singles advanced into the quarter finals with straight games win over Rahul Yadav (India) 21-16 21-14. Priyanshu Rajawat (India), Mithun Manjunath (India), and Kiran George (India) also into the quarter finals with comfortable wins Similarly, Ishika Jaiswal (USA) fought hard to win her second round match, is the only non-Indian remaining in women’s singles. Malvika Bansod, Samiya I. Farooqui, Ashmita Chaliha also reached the quarter finals. Odia girl Swetaparna Panda paired with B Yadav made a stunning comeback and advanced into the quarter finals of the mixed doubles event. Besides men’s doubles fifth seeded pair Krishna Prasad/Vishu Varshan (India) won their second round match with ease while women’s doubles eight seeds Sanjogita Ghorpade/Shruti Mishra made a stunning comeback to advance into quarter finals.
