OCA Women Blue chased down 113 runs comfortably Tuesday
Barabati Stadium hosted an exciting finish on Tuesday as OCA Women’s Blue claimed a comfortable seven-wicket victory against OCA Women’s Green. This exhibition fixture took place during the Bharat Masala Odisha T20 League CM Trophy. Cuttack has long served as the historic epicenter for nurturing regional cricket talent in Odisha, making it an ideal venue to showcase the growing domestic women's circuit.
Early collapse for green squad
Batting first, OCA Women’s Green struggled immediately, losing three quick wickets for just 10 runs. Tanmayee Behera and Sangeeta Khadia stepped up to rescue the innings. They built a crucial 35-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Behera scored 21 runs off 15 balls before returning to the pavilion. Khadia played a steady knock, making 30 runs from 33 deliveries. Monalisha Rout added 25 runs from 28 balls, and Bijyalaxmi Behera chipped in with 17 runs. Their combined efforts pushed the final total to 112/7 in 20 overs. GM Alaknanda led the bowling attack for the Blue team. She delivered a remarkable spell, claiming two wickets for just 12 runs in her four overs.
Chasing a target of 113 runs, OCA Women’s Blue started aggressively. Openers Alipsa Biswal and Silpa Swain dominated the early overs. They shared a solid 68-run stand to put their team in command. Swain eventually fell after scoring 26 runs from 31 deliveries. Despite losing two more wickets, the chasing side maintained complete control of the required run rate. Pragyan P. Mohanty stayed unbeaten on 27 runs from 32 balls, sealing the victory in the final over.
Captain Subhra Swain expressed immense satisfaction with the performance. She noted that every player executed their planned roles perfectly. Swain emphasized that the team treated this exhibition match with serious competitive spirit rather than a casual outing. She also expressed gratitude to the Odisha Cricket Association for providing women cricketers with such valuable platforms to display their skills. Following the match, Bharat Masala Director Srimanta Panda presented the Player of the Match award to GM Alaknanda for her outstanding bowling display.
