Baragarh, Aug 13: An OAS officer has been convicted and sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) by a Vigilance court in a bribery case.
Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Govinda Dandasena, former Additional Tahasildar, Bijepur under Baragarh district. Dandasena is currently serving as Executive Officer, Rajgangpur Municipality in Sundargarh district.
Dandasena was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a landowner in connection with the processing of a mutation case relating to the person’s land.
The Special Vigilance Judge, Baragarh convicted Govinda Dandasena in the case and sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment, besides imposing a fine.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority for dismissal of Dandasena from government service, in accordance with the applicable service rules and procedures.
