Nuapada contractor held for misappropriating Rs 57L govt. funds

Koraput, April 25: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended a contractor for misappropriating govt. funds approx Rs.57 lakhs.

The accused identified as Laxmidhara Routaray siphoned off govt. funds of Rs.56,93,957/- in connivance with S Harishchandra Bentkar, Soil Conservation Overseer, O/o ADSC( Asst Director Soil Conservation cum Project Implementing Agency) Watershed, Khariar without executing 22 numbers of Loose Boulder Check Dam.

The arrested accused Sri Routray is being forwarded today to Court of Special. Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatana.

Efforts are on to arrest the main accused Harishchandra Bentkar, Soil Conservation Overseer and another contractor Abhilash Meher.
