Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: BJD’s Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab today said that he is not aware of the complaint lodged against him by his daughter-in-law.   An FIR has been lodged in Bhopal against Mahtab, his wife, and son for alleged dowry harassment. Mahtab’s daughter-in-law filed a complaint against her husband, father-in-law, and mother-in-law at Bhopal’s women police station on Wednesday said media reports. “This is an issue between two individuals and my son and my daughter-in-law have been staying separately for last four years. My son had also filed a divorce petition three years ago. I will not deliberate on the merit of the case,” said Mahtab. The MP further said that Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik is well aware of it. “It is purely a personal matter between two individuals. The dispute started few days after the marriage. As a father I always wanted them to remain united. But unfortunately, that did not happen,” he added. A case was registered against the MP, his wife and son under Indian Penal Code Sections 498 (a) (subjecting a woman to cruelty), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), and provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
