Bhubaneswar: University and college campuses across the State witnessed processions and enthusiastic scenes as candidates moved with their supporters to file nomination papers for various Students’ Union seats today.
The filing of nomination began at 9 am and would continue to 12 noon, according to the schedule. As many as six universities and 258 colleges will hold students’ union election this year while three universities have announced no election in their campuses.
According to reports, pre-election violence has erupted in some college campuses across the State. Bombs have allegedly been hurled in the campuses of Ananthpur Saraswat College, Upendra College in Soro and the NC College at Jajpur.
According to reports, the nomination papers, to be filed by candidates by 12 noon, would be scrutinized between 2 pm and 4 pm and the list of valid candidates would be published on October 4 morning. The candidates can withdraw nominations between by 4 pm and the final list would be published at 5 pm on October 4.
The ‘Why I Stand For’ meeting would be held in concerned university and college campuses on October 10 and elections will be held on October 11.
