Chennai, Jan 8: Amid the rising Covid cases in the country, the Southern Railways on Saturday announced that only the passengers having complete vaccination certificates will be allowed to buy tickets for suburban trains in Chennai.

It is also mentioned in the official statement that the rule will be in effect starting from January 10 till January 31.

“The passengers will need to produce the second dose vaccination certificate /Final Certificate for Covid-19 Vaccination for the issue of journey/season tickets at the counters along with their valid ID proofs,” the statement read. 

Earlier on January 6, the Tamil Nadu Government had restricted the occupancy capacity in these suburban trains to 50% and this new restriction on the part of Southern Railways is an extension of the same.
