Boudh, Aug 8: He may not have the gift of sight, but he possesses a remarkable gift of music. With a melodious voice and an extraordinary command over traditional instruments, Prahallad Rana has carved out a special place in the hearts of thousands of listeners.

Hailing from Taperna village under Kulutajore Gram Panchayat in Kantamal block of Boudh district, Prahallad is a visually impaired artist whose talent has transformed the challenges of his life into a source of inspiration.

Born without eyesight, Prahallad never allowed his disability to stand in the way of his dreams. Blessed with a soulful voice, he sings devotional songs and bhajans while also performing Kirtan and playing traditional musical instruments.

His performances at various cultural programmes, village gatherings, Naam Yagnas and Sankirtan events have earned him appreciation from audiences. His devotional songs have also gained popularity on social media, bringing his talent to a wider audience.

Prahallad has performed not only across Boudh district but also outside Odisha, earning recognition for his unique musical abilities.

Prahallad’s journey has not been easy. He was born visually impaired and lost his mother at birth. Despite these hardships, he never allowed adversity to break his spirit.

His father and elder brother stood by him throughout his childhood, providing him with love and support. Despite his visual impairment, Prahallad pursued his education up to the undergraduate level.

His father, Rabindra Rana, is a Kirtan singer. Prahallad grew up listening to his father sing and gradually developed a deep passion for music. He did not receive formal training from a professional guru; instead, he considers his father his first teacher.
