No respite from heatwave in Odisha: 11 places record max temp above 43°C

Bhubaneswar, April 27: Odisha continued to reel under intense heatwave as 23 places recorded 40 degree Celsius or more on Wednesday. Sonepur was the hottest place on Wednesday with a maximum temperature of 44.5 degree Celsius followed by Angul which recorded maximum temperature of 44.1 degree Celsius. Balangir and Jharsuguda recorded maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius. The Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar said that as many as 11 places recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius.  “ There will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 4-5 days over the districts of Odisha. Maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C at many places over districts of interior Odisha and likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 °C at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha. People are advised to take precautionary measure while going outside during day time between 11 AM to 3 PM,” said a Met official.
