No proposal for opening new degree college in Rayagada: Minister

Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: The state government has no proposal of opening of new degree college in Rayagada, said the Higher education Minister Arun Sahu in the Assembly.
Replying to a query of Rayagada MLA Makaranda Muduli, the minister said that there are as many as 14 colleges in the district. Opening of new degree colleges depend on the gross enrolment ratio (GER) of the region. Besides, it depends on the demand, vacancy and numbers of student passing out from higher secondary schools in the area.
So, there is no proposal of opening new college in the district in the near future, the minister said.
