No Power Tariff Hike in Odisha for 2026-27: OERC

The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) announced that there will be no power tariff hike for the 2026-27 financial year, marking the fifth consecutive year with unchanged rates.

Bhubaneswar, March 24: The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) announced that there will be no power tariff hike for the 2026-27 financial year, marking the fifth consecutive year with unchanged rates.

As there will be no power tariff hike in Odisha, the domestic users who use up to 50 units, will have to pay 2.90 paisa for each unit, while they have to pay 4.70 paisa for using between 51 and 200 units.

Likewise, Rs 5.70 will be charged per unit for consumption between 201 and 400 units and Rs 6.10 per unit for consumption beyond 400 units.

Key Highlights:

  • No increase in electricity bills: Retail Supply Tariff remains the same.
  • Rebates: 4% rebate for LT Domestic consumers and prepaid users who pay online before the due date.
  • E-bill discount: Rs. 210 off for those opting for electronic bills.
  • Time of Day (ToD) Tariff: Lower rates during solar hours (8 AM-4 PM) and higher rates during peak hours (6 PM-12 AM) for smart meter users from July 2026.
  • Smart Metering focus: DISCOMs to roll out smart meters across all 11 kV feeders.
  • Security deposit refund: Simplified process for permanently disconnected consumers.
  • Transmission charges reduced: OPTCL's charge cut by 1.5 paise per unit.
  • Rebates for industries: EHT industries, Mega Lift Irrigation consumers, and Railway Traction benefit from various rebates.
  • Bulk power cost relief: Minor reduction in costs for DISCOMs and industries.
  • HT industries: Up to 20% rebate for steel plants and others maintaining high load factors.

The tariff structure for domestic users remains unchanged, with rates varying based on consumption.
