Bhubaneswar: No Firecrackers After 9 PM This Diwali

Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: In view of public safety and environmental concerns, the Commissionerate Police has issued strict guidelines regarding the use of firecrackers during Diwali celebrations this year.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena has announced that bursting firecrackers will be permitted only until 9 PM on Diwali night within the city limits.

“We need to ensure everyone’s safety while bursting crackers. As per the State Pollution Control Board guidelines, people can burst crackers till 9 PM. Besides, there are guidelines from the Supreme Court regarding the use of green crackers,” said DCP Meena.

The DCP emphasized the importance of celebrating a safe and responsible Diwali, urging citizens to follow the prescribed time limit strictly.

Police officials will take necessary action against those found violating the order by bursting firecrackers after the permitted time.

In his public appeal, DCP Meena requested residents to limit the use of crackers to reduce air and noise pollution.

He also advised parents to supervise children while they light firecrackers to prevent accidents. Furthermore, he urged the public to purchase firecrackers only from licensed shops, ensuring both safety and compliance with regulations.

The police department has assured that teams will be deployed across Bhubaneswar to monitor celebrations and ensure peaceful observance of the festival.
