Bhubaneswar, May 25: A first-year PhD scholar at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hostel room in Jatni of Odisha’s Khordha district on Monday.
The deceased, identified as Shreya Singh, hailed from Uttar Pradesh, police sources said.
According to reports, Shreya, who was residing in the institute hostel, was discovered unconscious on her bed. When she failed to respond for a prolonged period, fellow students alerted the hostel and institute authorities.
After being informed, police personnel arrived at the scene and recovered the body. The body was later sent to All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhubaneswar for post-mortem examination.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are probing all possible angles to determine the exact cause of death.
