Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched Nirman Kusuma Yojana that aims to provide financial assistance to children of construction workers for pursuing technical education.
Children of more than 500 construction labourers provided with cent percent financial assistance from the State Construction Workers’ Welfare Board for pursuing their technical courses.
Under the ‘Nirman Kusuma’ scheme, Rs 23,600 financial assistance was provided to each for pursuing ITI course while Rs 26,300 was given for pursuing polytechnic and diploma courses.
A total of Rs 1.09 crore financial assistance was provided to 1,878 beneficiaries in the 2018-19 academic session.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also announced that the natural death ex-gratia amount to each registered construction worker has been enhanced to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1 lakh while the accidental death compensation has been increased to Rs 4 lakh from Rs 2 lakh.
