Nirbhaya rape and murder case accused Vinay Sharma files curative petition; execution of death warrant may be delayed further

New Delhi, Jan 9: Vinay Sharma, one of the four accused in Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case, today filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court against the death warrant. Two days ago, the Patiala House Court had issued death warrant against all the four convicts in the Nirbhaya case. As per the death warrant, the four convicts will be hanged to death at 7 am on January 22. {"id":23585,"sizeSlug":"large"} However, there are many legal processes are pending after the issuance of death warrant. Advocate AP Singh, the lawyer of accused Vinay Sharma, said appeal petition on the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed on behalf of Pawan Gupta in 2017 has been filed at Patiala House Court {"id":23586,"sizeSlug":"large"} The convicts in Nirbhaya case can file curative petitions soon after the issuance of death warrant. The convicts are allowed to file curative petition within 14 days.
