Jaipur, Dec 5: As many as nine people tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Rajasthan's Jaipur on Sunday. The genome sequencing of samples of nine people of a family who have recently returned from a South African State today, confirmed the Omicron variant in the evening. Rajasthan Health Department said, as many as 34 samples of South Africa returnees, that included nine members of a family and people who came in contact with them were sent for genome sequencing. Of which nine people were found to be positive for the Omicron variant. The remaining 25 people tested negative for the new variant of Corona. At the same time, a family from Sikar district's Ajitgarh had also come in contact directly with the nine Omicron patients. But fortunately, all of the family members tested negative for the Omicron variant. Following this, the state health department has isolated the people who came in contact with the nine Omicron patients. Earlier, seven people in Maharashtra tested positive for the new variant and one case was detected from Delhi. Adding the new ones from Rajasthan, the total tally of Omicron cases in India has reached 21.
