Cricket fever is returning to Balasore district as preparations begin for the fifth season of the Nilagiri Cricket League (NCL). Organizers held a press conference today to share the final schedule for the upcoming tournament. Suman Das, the NCL president, confirmed that the event will kick off later this month with high stakes and local talent.
Auction and Participants
Before the matches begin, a player auction is set for the 10th at the Brit Kalyan Mandap. Approximately 150 cricketers are expected to participate in the bidding process. These players represent various constituencies, including Remuna, Nilagiri, Balasore, and Soro.
Tournament Details
Competition officially starts on the 17th with a grand opening ceremony at the K.C. High School grounds. Six distinct teams will face each other in a series of league matches. The tournament will continue for over a week and conclude on the 28th.
Prizes and Fan Engagement
Significant rewards await the top performers this season. The champion squad will receive a trophy and a cash prize of 1,11,000 rupees. The runner-up team will earn 77,000 rupees. NCL organizers have invited all local residents to visit the grounds and enjoy the matches.
