NIA files chargesheet against two accused in Bhubaneswar bomb blast case

​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, October 2: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against two accused in connection with the Bhubaneswar bomb blast case. The chargesheet was submitted before the Special NIA Court in Bhubaneswar under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Explosive Substances Act and Explosives Act.

The accused have been identified as Sanu alias Rohan Ranjan Rout and Amiya Ranjan Mallik 

The case pertains to a bomb blast that occurred in the New Azadnagar area of Sundarpada under the jurisdiction of Airfield Police Station in Bhubaneswar.

The incident took place on January 27, 2026, at around 2:30 pm, when four persons were allegedly preparing bombs with the intention of carrying out a criminal act.

During the process, an explosion occurred, leaving all four persons with severe burn injuries. The blast also resulted in the deaths of accused Shahnawaz Malik, alias Mufi, and his mother.

According to the investigation, the accused were allegedly involved in a criminal conspiracy and had arranged explosive materials illegally. The probe further indicated that the explosion occurred while they were allegedly preparing bombs as part of the planned criminal activity.

The NIA investigation is continuing to establish the full conspiracy and the roles of those allegedly involved in the case.
