Bhubaneswar, Nov 2: The much awaited capital region ring road work is going to start soon as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the tender process. The NHAI has floated tender for construction of the six-lane capital region ring road (CRRR) from Gobindpur near Kuspangi on NH-42 to Tangi near Manguli on NH-16. A tender of Rs 1381.33 crore has been floated for construction of the 40.330 km stretch of the CRRR within 30 months. The NHAI has initiated the process of obtaining forest and environment clearances for the project. The land acquisition process has also begun for the key infrastructure project, said a senior NHAI official. The CRRR project will provide a parallel connectivity of NH-16 bypassing Khurda town, Bhubaneswar, Athagarh town, Cuttack city and Choudwar town. The 111.2-km long ring road will originate from Rameswar on NH-16, pass through NH-55 at Govindpur and terminate near Tangi on NH-16. The CRRR is proposed to be developed as 6-lane carriageway including a major six-lane bridge over river Mahanadi.
