Newborn stolen from Baripada Hospital: Woman nabbed with infant

​​​​​​​Baripada, Oct 11: The Baripada Town Police on Saturday rescued a newborn boy who was stolen from the Baripada District Headquarters Hospital, and handed over him to the parents.

A woman was arrested and sent to judicial remand after the infant was recovered from her possession.

The accused baby snatcher has been identified as Parvati Hembram, a childless woman who was reportedly mad after a baby on her lap, said police.

According to reports, one Phulmani Soren wife of Dhanai Hansda, a resident of Ranibhol village under Baripada Sadar police station, delivered a boy in the newborn ward at Baripada Hospital. Meanwhile, a woman stole the newborn from the bed misleading her mother luring to fill up some documents for getting financial assistance.

Finding their baby nowhere in the ward, the parents informed police regarding the incident.

Based on a complaint, a police team conducted a raid in the Baisinga police station area, where the accused woman was nabbed and the baby was rescued from her possession.
