New Delhi, Aug 27:Multiple state governments and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu have activated emergency helplines to assist citizens affected by the devastating flash floods in Nepal’s Bhotekoshi River. The disaster has reportedly claimed at least 157 lives, while around 400 people remain missing.

The mid-morning flash flood on Wednesday caused widespread destruction across three districts, sweeping away people, houses, vehicles and key infrastructure. The scale of the disaster has raised concerns that it could become one of Nepal’s deadliest disasters in recent years.
