Nayagarh quadruple murder:Court orders life sentence to four,one acquitted

Nayagarh, Oct 9: District Judge Nayagarh on Saturday, has ordered life sentences to four accused in connection with Chandpur quadruple murder case which was committed on September 6, 2014. One accused has been acquitted for no evidence regarding his involvement with the case. The convict those have been awarded life for have been identified as M Ramesh,J Jayakrishna,Krishan Das and J Santosh while the acquitted one is Pradeep Behera. According to the prima facie of the case, a gang of looter broke into the house of Kashinath Patra with an intention of robbery. However,the gang murdered Kashinath, his daughter in law, Suchitra and two infants including his grandson and granddaughter after the situation aggravated. On September 10, 2014 the locals of that area held a demonstration outside the Chandpur police station for the arrest of the accused, during which a protester was killed in gunfire by the police. Subsequently,the case was transferred to the Crime Branch.Acting on it,the Crime Branch arrested the accused, M Ramesh, J Jaykrushna, Krushna Das, J. Santosh and Pradeep Behera on August 19.However,the 6th accused died in a road accident before the arrest took place. The Court in its judgement, ordered life imprisonment along with cash penalty worth Rs 45,000 to each convicts,read the order.
