Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik today wrote to all Chief Ministers seeking their support in ensuring 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures.
The move came after the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday decided to consult 22 political parties including the Congress and the BJP in support of women’s reservation in Parliament and State Assemblies.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Patnaik too wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to ensure passing of the bill to reserve 33 per cent of seats for women in Parliament and State Assemblies.
Patnaik also delegates leaders to meet the leaders of the 22 political party leaders.
