Bhubaneswar, October 16: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday congratulated the winning candidates and students following the conclusion of student union elections across the state, praising the democratic spirit and resilience of Odisha’s youth.
In a statement shared on his official social media accounts, Patnaik described the election results as a reflection of the dedication, unity and strength of Generation Z and the student community.
Patnaik Accuses BJP of Election Manipulation
Targeting the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Patnaik praised BJD leaders and members of its student wing, the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD), for standing firm against what he alleged were attempts by the state government to influence the electoral process through unfair means.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the winning candidates and students in the Student Parliament election. This victory reflects the dedication and unity of Odisha’s #GenZ, youth, and student power,” Patnaik said.
He also commended BJD and BCJD leaders for resisting what he described as a conspiracy by the BJP government to secure electoral victories through injustice and unfair practices.
“Let us all unite to move forward in maintaining the academic environment of the college and shaping a bright future for the students,” he added.

Call to Protect Academic Environment
Patnaik’s remarks come amid allegations by BJD leaders that the state administration used law enforcement agencies to put pressure on student leaders ahead of polling. These allegations have been levelled by the opposition party against the ruling BJP government.
Concluding his message, Patnaik urged student representatives to rise above political differences and work collectively to safeguard academic standards and maintain a peaceful atmosphere on college campuses.
