Naveen condoles demise of former Samaja editor Manorama Mohapatra

Bhubaneswar, Sep 18: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed grief at the death of Manorama Mohapatra, an eminent litterateur and the former editor of Odia daily, The Samaja. She passed away on Saturday at the age of 87. Naveen said that she has created a special place for herself as an educator, writer and orato. She has been instrumental in raising awareness on various social issues, especially women's rights and issues. As editor, she maintained a high standard of journalism. The state lost an orator and a majestic woman,” said Naveen. Before she became Editor of The Samaja, Manorama was an Economics Professor. She had received awards from the Kendriya Sahitya Akademi and Odisha Sahitya Akademi for her literary works.
